About the Author
Daniel Larimer’s mission, before he turned to Christ, was to create free-market, voluntary solutions to secure life, liberty, property, and justice for all. He spent fourteen years building systems that encourage integrity by design against the moral hazard and corruption of our financial and political lives: he invented Delegated Proof of Stake, built the first blockchain-based decentralized exchange, the first stablecoins, and the first social-media platform on a blockchain — three of the most-used chains of their day, BitShares, Steem, and EOS, entrusted with billions of dollars — and holds patents for provably secure voting systems, among other inventions. More Equal Animals: The Subtle Art of True Democracy carried the same work into governance. Then came the realization that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against powers in high places — and no protocol reforms those.
He now spends his days as Jeremiah spent his: in the Scriptures, watching for the fall of Babylon and the soon return of Jesus. His further studies are published in MEAT — The Bible’s Symbolic Language and the Biblical Tribulation Survival Guide; his ongoing work is free at TimeTested.Bible, a study Bible that links every verse of Scripture to the studies, symbols, and sources behind this book.
The two callings are one discipline. A blockchain survives because no one is asked to trust anyone: every claim can be checked, by anyone, against a record all can read. This book is built the same way. No argument in it rests on the author’s say-so; the dates are tested against the sky’s own record, the sources are dated and cited, and the reader is handed the tools to run every check himself. What he asked of his networks, he asks of his readers: take no man’s word — verify.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
